SOLVING PROBLEMS AND RE-DESIGNThis workshop, led by Rhonda Baird, will ask the all-important questions "Is this working? and How can it work better?" Profile Information

How are you currently involved in Transition to a post-petroleum lifestlyle?
I took the Transition Training in April 2009 and was a member of the Transition Initiating Group in Bloomington, Indiana that initiated the Great Unleashing in Bloomington on April 24, 2010. At the GU, I convened a group on Complementary Currency and Trading Systems. This group will begin its action plan by meeting weekly, starting Sunday evening, May 2, 7 p.m., at my home, 134 N. Overhill Drive
How do you identify with the Transition movement? Why are you interested?
I've always known that our civilization was unsustainable and that it would reach the limit of material growth sometime in my lifetime, causing a more or less drastic transformational shift in the way we live our lives and the way we frame up our understanding of reality.
How can you help the growth / acceptance / vitality of local Transition efforts? What can YOU teach us? What can your Group teach us?
See above.

April 23 2011 Spring Swap Meet Successful!

Thanks to great, unanticipated, and unexpected publicity from the H-T at the last minute (our publicity had been a bit too close to the event for comfort, due to the fact that we couldn't get the Atrium of the Shower's Building on the final weekend of April, but had to settle for April 23), our first of two planned Swap Meets for this year, sponsored by the Community Exchange Group of Transition Bloomington, went off without a hitch and a good bit of wonderful stuff. Eight tables worth, plus…

New York Times article, Sunday June 6 2010

Unfortunately, it's somewhat tongue-in-cheek. In the paper version it was called "A Movement Prepares: Goodbye, Limitless Oil, Hello, Primitive Dystopia" (below the fold, Front section, p. 19).

Ann

My name is Blaine, nice to meet you.

Do you know anyone that can help me in obtaining a variance for a composting toilet, rainwater harvesting system, and reed-bed graywater treatment system?

I have the land, but obtaining a permit and dealing with the county is proving difficult.

That is very kind of you.  Thanks!

I plan a trip to Indiana soon, and hopefully, I will have time to look around Bloomington.

:)

Cheers,

Robert

Dear Ann:

Because of our home-finance picture (not good, as is the case with many), I would like to take an engineering job (while I still can) to help recover from the loss.  Columbus has some job opportunities, which I would like to take advantage of while we are completing our "descent" to a powered-down world.

Is there nothing going on, transition wise, in Columbus??

Thanks for the welcome!

Robert

Hi Ann, would you be open to an interview concerning the bypass? A friend and I are making a short documentary about the project and we need to interview some people who live in green acres. Could you recommend anyone else we could talk to? Let me know. The film will be posted on a blog linked to the B-TOP site. We'll be using it promote B-TOP's new report.
