Growing Community Resilience for an Abundant Post-Petroleum Future

(From my Facebook)
"Borrowed The Transition Handbook from Ellettsville branch of MCPL. Though there are only two copies there was no waiting list. Shoulda been. The global warming and peak oil projections already seem unrealistically optimistic, but it seems to me the world should be beating down doors to read this book. (Maybe everyone else in this group has already absorbed all this material.) Anyway, when I'm done with the book, maybe I'll be ready for some actual work helping the Transition community. Where to start, where to start?"

The difficulty for me is that I can hardly stand unfocused meetings, or publicity events like concerts and public role-playing games. Maybe it's just because I'm a boomer, but community-building seems really hard for me. Maybe that's why it also seems so critically important. I can always justify "improving" on our backyard, but spending the time and the gas to drive into Bloomington where the action seems to be is harder to make sense of. Guess I'm a truebeliever, an envirofollower...
